At eucentric height the x-axis tilt mechanism of the microscope stage has
a minor displacement at
small tilt angles. However
the higher the tilt angles become the larger the image displacement of
The new HATA-Holder has built-in X axis-tilt mechanism which can be used
with an offset in steps of 15 degrees.
For example, a tilt series with +/- 60 degrees may be acquired first with an HATA-Holder offset of 0 degrees,
then adjust the HATA-Holder offset to
120 degrees. Another series may be acquired and by repeating
this one more time a total of 360 degrees
Additional flexibility is possible by using only the most reliable tilt range of the stage itself.
With data acquired by tilting 360 degrees, naturally the result is a more
accurate and reliable reconstruction.
There is no lack of information which is a true
improvement compared to traditional tomography data.
| Both sides of the specimen can be easily observed.
| Using this holder, turning a specimen upside down (180 degrees) is
possible at any time.
Without removing the specimen holder from the microscope or removing a grid from the holder itself the field
of view can be reversed for easier orientation
of a crystal or other tasks.
After a 180 degrees tilt angle adjustment the optical axis with respect to the tilt-rotation axis has minimum
displacement Fine tuning of the sample position
The azimuth of the object of interest stays the
same after a 180 degrees tilt operation.
Further it allows new ways of operation such as
two sided image comparison.
